BCF were recently included in the Scotsman newspaper for their recent improvements in energy use in their head office in Bellshill, Scotland.
The company had a Resource Efficient Scotland audit that highlighted some potential energy saving improvements such as lagging pipes and valves in the building.
Further to these improvements, the company’s heating system was also found to be quite inefficient and this was replaced by a new Reznor system that has improved the heating efficiency drastically and now qualifies for the Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme.
Passive Infrared Sensors have also been installed in the building to control the lighting where possible to save energy.
Going forward, BCF are focusing on refining its waste management system to make that more efficient too.
Christine Hossak, Facilities Co-ordinator at BCF said:
“Saving energy and improving efficiency is important for BCF as it fits in the company values. It also prevents waste and ultimately reduces our building costs. We will aim to continuously improve our efficiency going forward to further reduce our carbon footprint and improve energy efficiency.”
