a Guide Dog puppy named Jackson!
You can understand our delight when Jackson came along to our head office to pay us a visit!
Jackson was born on the 10th of December 2021 and has a special place in our hearts as he is named in memory of our colleague Steve Jackson. Steve worked for IMV as a Field Service Engineer and loved nothing more than going for walks in his spare time with his own dogs.
We've been receiving regular Pupdates so it was lovely to finally meet Jackson and see just how he's progressing with his training.
He really is a super boy; he’s happy and enthusiastic and a pleasure to meet. Jackson is now at the age where his ‘teenage’ hormones have kicked in, but mostly, he is doing really well at this stage and making great progress with his training.
We were able to witness first hand his excellent lead work and how he pauses in certain scenarios, for example, when climbing or walking down the stairs. An important aspect of leading.
Jackson certainly was a 'lovely, calm and affectionate boy' as Margaret had previously told us. He thoroughly enjoyed meeting the team at IMV and giving kisses as well as getting his tummy rubbed.
Busy situations, such as town centres, pose no issues at all for self-assured Jackson and he’s able to stay focused and relaxed in these areas. He can walk past any noise with ease and is good at settling quickly when they stop off at cafés. Jackson is now a pro at negotiating all types of stairs and is happy to go in any style of lift that they come across.
Jackson will soon be celebrating his first birthday and shortly after, making the move to 'big school' where he will progress on from learning social skills to learning guiding skills.
